//Fighter's-Stand

The Wayward Knight, supplies drained and resolve tempered, draws her Crusade to a close. A sword shines in the otherworldly night, re-opening the Black King's wound suffered at the White King's hand. The Wayward Knight's piece rolls off the table.

Godspeed, dear Knight. It seems your friends have begun organizing under your name. I suppose it's true--people shall always band together under times of adversity, even if it's from shared grief.

  1. She deserves it, the unification in her name.

    Anyone who makes such an amazing last stand deserves it.

  2. Honestly, if the Spectator had been given such a choice, to sacrifice herself so her friends could escape... I'm not sure I'd have the courage to make that decision with such finality.

  4. Urgh, spelling mistakes.

    And that's why Fizzy was amazing.

    I don't know...but if I myself was backed into a corner, I'd make sure I didn't just roll over and die.

  5. Perhaps the Wayward Knight felt a last stand was preferable to starvation. Regardless, she's sent ripples through the White Army, it seems.

  6. Hmm. But it does mean that our side is one 'piece' down again.

    And we still haven't found Stephanie.

    Or Vexil, who's just poofed.

    I'm working on a Tracker at the moment though, so we can avoid this in the future. Mum's working on a Detector...

    I think I'll name the Tracker after Fizz.

  9. Fine metaphors for the conflicts which plague the players. Fallen knights and turned queens, wandering pawns and a wounded king. But a crucial difference, this one thinks, hangs o'er in the pervasive gloom. The Joker, the Wild Card, remains unseen. Pray, Spectator, might there be one thus among this varied company?

  11. Thage, I'm sorry if this is prying but I didn't want to ask Reach... Why didn't you guys mention this connection before?

  12. It's not exactly something I'm fond of bringing up in normal discourse.

  13. Oh. That makes sense. Sorry...
